Lauren Pelaia
Lauren (she/her) is a New Jersey based composer, performer, and music director. She wrote the music and lyrics to The Picher Project, a musical that tells the untold story of the now-abandoned mining town of Picher, Oklahoma. The Picher Project has been seen at Feinstein's/54 Below, Barn Arts Program in Maine, Oklahoma, and Dixon Place NYC. Additionally, Lauren wrote the music and lyrics to Falling Fast, a dance narrative, that had its off-broadway premiere at Symphony Space in New York City. This upcoming May, Falling Fast is selected to run at the Orlando Fringe Festival.
Lauren has music directed at The College of New Jersey (Something Rotten, Anything Goes, The Picher Project), Feinstein's/54 Below (The Picher Project), Dixon Place NYC (The Picher Project), and Arts for Autism on Broadway with Horizons Unlimited. As a performer, Lauren was most recently seen as Alice Murphy in Bright Star at Kelsey Theater. She also works as a dueling pianist leading all-request sing-a-long shows.
As an instructor, Lauren firmly believes in the importance of maintaining proper vocal technique while staying true to character in delivery. She fosters a supportive and safe class environment that encourages exploration and discovery.
